CURATED BY: HEATHER
FEBRUARY 7 - MARCH 7, 2026

Dorado 806 Projects is pleased to announce our participation in this year’s SCOPE Miami Beach, featuring Los Angeles–based Korean-American artist Yoon Chang, curated by Amelie Laurice.

Yoon Chang
(b. 1986, Seoul)

Yoon Chang is a Korean-American artist based in Los Angeles. Her work explores the intersection of emotion, memory, and place through layered gestures of color and movement. Before transitioning into painting, she studied Interior Design at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn and worked for a decade in the field. Her sensitivity to structure, balance, and space remains present in her work, even as she uses painting as a way to unlearn precision and lean into intuition. Yoon has exhibited in Seoul, New York, and Los Angeles, drawing ongoing inspiration from the shifting light, color, and emotional resonance of coastal cities around the world.

Artist Statement
My work explores the intersection of emotion, memory, and place through layered gestures of color and movement. Living between cultures, I draw inspiration from the tension and harmony that emerge between belonging and distance, structure and freedom.

In my ongoing series Mindscapes, I translate the unseen energy of moments into compositions of movement, transparency, and rhythm. Influenced by automatism, I work intuitively, allowing the unconscious to guide each mark, gesture, and color field. Through this process, I map emotional terrains shaped by migration, memory, and identity, inviting viewers to connect with their own inner landscapes.

My background in interior design has shaped my sensitivity to structure, space, and balance. Yet painting became a process of unlearning structure—of letting go of precision to embrace intuition. Each painting reflects inner states that shift and overlap: fluid, layered, and resonant, revealing the subtle dialogue between chaos and calm.
