By utilizing painting, ceramics, wood-working, found objects and installation, I engage with the sublime. Highlighting microscopic beings such as insects, flora and fungi on reclaimed materials, I explore ephemerality while emphasizing an understanding for all sentient things.
The piece "Seduction III" highlights the abdomen of a male peacock spider. In hopes to attract a mate, the male flaunts his feather, shakes his limbs and dances intricately. If unimpressed, the much larger and less colorful female spider attacks and potentially consumes the male. The peacock spider male dances for his life within a complex web of visual attraction, seduction and death.
